Pathways Connects Small Businesses with IT Training Providers

Pathways hosted the second meeting in its Tech Accelerator Meeting series on March 26, 2018 in partnership with United Way of Tarrant County at The Study: Irving Innovation Center. In the second meeting, small business operators met with IT training providers to discuss their current and future job openings, and how local training programs can supply qualified candidates for these open positions.

Participating Small Businesses:
Fuse Solutions
Simplicity Health Solutions
MNK Infotech
Sagiss
Catalyst Partners
Azpen

Participating IT Training Organizations:
Computer Minds
Dev Mountain
MyComputerCareer

In addition to the discussion about job openings and local training programs, the group also identified shared challenges that could be addressed at future meetings. One such issue focused on the deficits in interpersonal skills that employers are noticing in the candidate pool and how training providers can shore up these deficits in their programs. To advance this work, the group will look to conduct an inventory of the most relevant soft skills needed for success in the technology workplace, crosswalk those skills against current training curricula, and develop strategies for building skills that are not already being addressed.

Our next meeting is scheduled for early June.
